About Department
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) was started in the year 1994. The department offers 4 years Under Graduate (UG) programs in B.E. (ECE) from 1994 and 2 years Post Graduate (PG) in M.E., VLSI Design from the year 2004. The student intake for B.E. (ECE) is 120 and PG programme is 06. B.E.(ECE) is being accredited by NBA in since 2005-06 regularly for a period of three. Currently the program is under Tier- I accreditation. The department is recognized as research centre by Anna University, Chennai since 2000. VLSI laboratory is modernized with MODROBS funding from AICTE. The curriculum and syllabi for the programmes offered in the department are designed based on Outcome Based Education (OBE) with Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The curriculum is designed to achieve a balance between depth of knowledge acquired through specialization and breadth of knowledge gained through exploration. Department is interested in the professional and skill development of every student entering the program. It is ensured that at the end of the program the student has the potential to face the challenges in his career and life. The undergraduate degree courses offered by the department provide a comprehensive foundation in the core topics of Electronics as well as communication coupled with areas of specialization relevant to emerging engineering challenges. The curriculum has been designed to create professional electronics and communication engineers, who can serve in the fields of core electronics engineering, information and communication systems, and other related fields.
